How To Avoid Computer Hacking

Here are three
things you can do to
avoid “hackers” and
keep your computer
secure: First, never post
your IP address on
the Internet or in an
email. Every
computer that
accesses the Internet has an
Internet Protocol
address. This is a
four-digit number
separated by
periods… for example,
123.321.111.02. Once
a hacker has your
computer IP address,
it’s like walking in
your unlocked front door. Second, use firewall
and antivirus
software programs
to protect your
computer from
hackers. These programs should
automatically load
when you turn on
your computer. Make
sure these computer
programs are always running before you
access the Internet.
If you want to exit
or turn off your
firewall or antivirus
program, disconnect from the Internet
first. Finally, when you are
not using the
Internet, either turn
your computer off or
disconnect it from
the Internet. Don’t leave your computer
running in normal
mode. If you don’t
physically turn off
your computer, you
can change the status of your
computer to “stand-
by” mode. If you
have a cable
connected to your
modem, it is easy to disconnect the cable
from your modem to
guarantee your
computer is not
accessible to
computer hackers......
